Overseas Ministry Overview
Through the establishment of World Diaconia in 2012, the Korean Church Service Corps extended its reach beyond Korea to the entire world. We respond swiftly to disasters and crises occurring around the globe, providing comprehensive support from emergency relief to long-term reconstruction projects.
Supporting war refugees in Ukraine, emergency relief for the Türkiye–Syria earthquake, rebuilding and vocational school construction in Haiti, typhoon recovery and school construction in the Philippines, earthquake emergency relief in Nepal, and refugee support in Myanmar — we carry the mission of "going wherever disaster and relief are needed."
In the long term, we are doing our utmost to support the establishment of Korean-model health clinics in Ukraine and to connect global medical aid, so that the Korean Church may become a beacon of hope to the world.

Ecuador Earthquake Relief
Located on the opposite side of the globe from Korea, Ecuador has a total population of 13 million and encompasses three distinct regions centered on the Andean highlands around the capital Quito (at 2,850 metres above sea level), the coastal lowlands, and the jungle.
The 2016 earthquake caused severe damage primarily to cities in the coastal region. A survey team, working together with the local Korean Missionary Association, procured and delivered approximately USD 10,000 worth of relief goods on the ground — including medicines such as mosquito repellent, vitamins, and pain relievers, as well as daily necessities such as toilet paper, soap, canned food, bottled water, sugar, rice, cooking oil, toothpaste, and salt. The Korean Church Service Corps has been raising funds to support earthquake victims in Ecuador and, in close cooperation with the local Korean Missionary Association, has been providing sanitation facilities and temporary housing for displaced persons while also working toward the reconstruction of church buildings destroyed in the earthquake.
Nepal Earthquake Relief
The Nepal earthquake on April 25, 2015 struck with a moment magnitude of 7.8. The most severely affected areas were Gorkha, Bhaktapur, Nuwakot, and Dhading, centered around the capital Kathmandu.
WD responds to Jesus' question — "Who will be a neighbour to the one who fell into trouble?" — by bringing warm love to the people of Nepal who have lost beloved family and friends and are trembling with fear and hunger. In the immediate aftermath of the earthquake, WD joined hands with local communities, civil organizations, and mission groups to carry out emergency relief operations, and continues to pursue recovery and reconstruction projects for the affected areas and residents.
Haiti Earthquake Recovery
World Diaconia (WD) carried out a project from 2010 to 2011 to rebuild more than 70 elementary schools, orphanages, and churches following the Haiti earthquake.
From 2012 onward, WD prepared as a long-term project to establish a vocational school to educate the people of Haiti. With approval from the Haitian government through USAID under the U.S. Department of State, WD received approximately 16,500 square metres of land at the Caracol Industrial Park, completed construction, and held a dedication ceremony in March 2016. A total of 1,305 churches and 2,441 individuals and organisations participated in raising approximately 4 billion won for this project.
Palestine / Syria Refugee Support
From 2012 to 2014, field survey teams were deployed for Syrian and Palestinian refugee relief. Based on these surveys, KD organised systematic support encompassing essential supplies, food packages, and various areas of assistance.
Philippines & Indonesia Typhoon Relief
In 2012–2013, in solidarity with various NGOs, relief operations were carried out in the Philippines and Indonesia following the devastation of Typhoon Haiyan. Long-term support and relief supplies were continuously provided for the construction of schools, homes, and churches.
